General Ventilation survey of large and small mines
Ventilation surveys in large and small scale mines aims at acquiring data that quantify the distributions of airflow, pressure and air quality throughout the main flow parts of a ventilation system. Sufficient measurements of airflow are taken as follows : to ensure that all working areas in a mine receive their required airflows in an efficient and effective maimer. to ensure that ventilation plans are kept up to date to verify the directions, quantities and separate identity of airflows throughout the ventilation infrastructure, including escape routes or walk ways are maintained. These are achieved by the following :
General Ventilation
survey of large and
small mines
Measuring air quality
• Barometric pressure survey
• Heat index or stress monitoring
• Humidity measurements
• Checking ventilation leakage and control
• Checking the conditions of ventilation appliances eg. fans, ducts, dust filters, water blasts, doors regulators etc.
• Checking in all working areas and come up with reports on : Air temperatures (wet and dry bulb )
• air cooling power ( wet kata )
• airflows ( velocity, volume, distribution)
• gases ( methane, carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, nitrous fumes e t c).
• Checking on the compliance to legal requirements
• Fan performance tests
• Giving advice on blasting times and re-entry intervals
• Allows for reviewing ventilation system of the mine.
Monthly Ventilation
